Pre-Training Workshop: INTRODUCTION TO THE WID (optional) This workshop is designed for both newbies and Workforce Information Database veterans who feel they’re missing out on some pieces of the puzzle that is the database.
Wednesday, May 12, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm DATABASE MANAGEMENT When you were hired, you may have been told that the states are required to populate the database. But, you’re not required to populate every table. In this session you’ll learn which tables are on the required “core table” list, along with shortcuts to content for many of those and other important tables. You’ll also learn how some states are sharing information about extensions they have developed to the database.
Thursday, May 13, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm INFORMATION DELIVERY Excel and PDF files are still common vehicles for sharing information. But, recent advances in web development have opened up even more channels for getting your information to your customers – in ways that will keep their attention. We’ll explore populating the database and delivering information on the cheap, using open source software.
Friday, May 14, 9:00 am – Noon The focus extends beyond the nuts and bolts of managing the database to working efficiently with the multitudes of tools and sources that are at your disposal. We’ll also take a look at some trends in Internet use and workforce information.
